Dr. Ryan E. Christensen received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Monmouth University, where he graduated with magna cum laude honors in 1998. He then pursued his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors in 2002 and immediately joining Tranquility Veterinary Clinic. Throughout his education, Dr. Christensen worked as a veterinary technician in several hospitals in New Jersey. While at Iowa State University, his experience focused on small animal medicine and surgery, including a surgical externship at the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha. Dr. Christensen's professional interests include small animal surgery and laser surgery, and he is a member of the AVMA and NJVMA.
When he is not at the clinic, Dr. Christensen's favorite activities are spending time with his family, mountain biking, and making trips to the Jersey Shore. He currently resides in Lake Tranquility with his wife Donna, their sons Riley, Nicholas, and Jack, two cats, and a dog.
Dr. Darnelle Blackman is the newest Veterinarian at Tranquility Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Blackman received his Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-medicine from Bloomfield College in 2011 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University in 2019. His areas of professional interest include surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. Dr. Blackman’s favorite part about working in the veterinary field is being able to provide quality veterinary medicine and education to clients. Dr. Blackman was born and raised in Trinidad until he was 19 years old. He moved to the United States in 2006 and relocated to New Jersey in early 2021 with his fiancée and their two adopted Conures (type of parrots) named Zazu and Pretty. In his free time, Dr. Blackman enjoys working out, running, playing soccer, and working in the yard. A fun fact about Dr. Blackman is that he was a NJCAA Men’s Soccer All American defensive player in 2006-07 before an ankle injury that almost ended his career. After a full recovery, he made the NCAA All Conference first team! In addition to his work in the veterinary field, Dr. Blackman also worked for Pfizer Inc. for 5 years doing research and development on vaccines.
Jennifer Zanetti is Tranquility Veterinary Clinic's Hospital Manager. She began working in the veterinary field in 1992 as a receptionist/assistant in a small animal practice, which led her to her first practice management position.
She says she always has had a strong sense of compassion and empathy towards animals and loves being around them. Caring for animals, along with her interest in biology and chemistry, led her down the path of veterinary medicine. She's also had the opportunity to work with many different specialties as a certified veterinary technician, including wildlife, exotics, and zoo medicine, equine, and small animals. Her areas of professional interest include ultrasound, pain management, and improving the client and patient experience through communication and low stress handling.
Jennifer currently shares a home with her husband, three dogs, cat, two geckos, two guinea pigs, and also enjoys spending time with her Appaloosa/Thoroughbred horse, Liam James. In her free time, she enjoys riding horses, ATV's, and teaching her horse how to smile on command!
